Privacy Policy

ONO (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is operated by ShunyaTech. ONO is a voice coach for new managers: you speak to it and it speaks back. This policy explains what leaves your phone, who processes it, what we keep, and how to erase all of it.
1. Information We Collect
Your Voice
ONO listens while a session is open so it can understand what you say. Audio is streamed to a speech-to-text service, converted to text, and discarded. We do not store recordings of your voice.
Conversation Transcripts
The text of your conversations is stored on our servers and tied to your account, so ONO can remember what you told it and pick a conversation back up later.
What ONO Derives From Those Conversations
Summaries, action items, and communication-style estimates for you and for the people you describe, including short verbatim quotes kept as the evidence behind a piece of feedback. These are stored on our servers and shown back to you in the app.
Account Identifier
We generate an identifier so your data stays yours across sessions. There is no sign-up form: we never ask you to create an account, choose a password, or hand over an email address to use ONO.
Your Name, Role and Employer
ONO asks who you are early in the first conversation. If you tell it your name, your job title, or where you work, it saves them so it can talk to you like a person who knows you. You can decline, and you can erase them.
Names of People You Describe
When you talk about someone on your team, ONO stores their name along with what you said about working with them: how they take feedback, what went well, what to try next time. This is what lets it prepare you for a specific conversation weeks later.
Calendar Data (Optional)
Only if you choose to connect a calendar. We read event titles, start times, and attendees — including attendee names and email addresses — so ONO can prepare you for a specific upcoming conversation. We never read event bodies or attachments. We also store the email address of the account you connected, which is what Settings shows you as “connected as”. Access is read-only and you can disconnect at any time.
Subscription Status
Whether you have an active subscription, so paid features unlock and restores work. No payment card data passes through our servers.
Diagnostics
Crash and error reports containing technical device metadata, used to find and fix faults.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To hold a spoken conversation with you and reply in context
- To remember prior conversations, the people you manage, and your action items
- To build the communication profile the app shows you
- To enforce the free tier and unlock paid features
- To diagnose crashes and improve reliability
3. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your data or share it with data brokers
- We never use anything you tell ONO to target advertising. Your conversations, the people you describe, and your profile are never shared with advertisers or used to choose which ad you see
- We do not track you across other apps or websites
- We do not store recordings of your voice
- We do not use your conversations to train our own models
4. Advertising
Free practice time is partly funded by sponsors. ONO shows a single muted advert in the view area below the orb, and only while ONO itself is speaking or while a rehearsal is being scored. It is never full screen, never has sound, never appears during a rehearsal, and never appears while you are speaking. Subscribers see no adverts at all.
Google AdMob (admob.google.com)
Serves the adverts. Receives your device’s advertising identifier, approximate location derived from your IP address, and standard device information, which it uses to select an advert and to measure whether it was seen.
What we never send
Nothing you say to ONO reaches an advertiser. Your transcripts, the people you describe, your profile and your rehearsal feedback are never used to target advertising, and are never shared with AdMob or any advertising partner.
Your choices
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, ONO asks for your consent before any personalised advert loads, and you can decline. On iOS you are also asked whether ONO may track you across other companies’ apps and websites; declining is fine and nothing stops working. Either refusal simply means less relevant adverts. Subscribing removes them entirely.
5. Third-Party Services
ONO relies on the following providers, each receiving only what its job requires. Data may be processed on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. By using the app you consent to that transfer.
Deepgram (deepgram.com)
Speech to text. Receives your voice audio in real time and returns a transcript.
Google Gemini (ai.google.dev)
Language model. Receives the conversation text to generate ONO’s replies.
Cartesia (cartesia.ai)
Text to speech. Receives ONO’s reply text and returns the voice you hear.
Supabase (supabase.com)
Database and authentication. Stores your account, transcripts, profile, and action items.
RevenueCat (revenuecat.com)
Processes in-app purchases and verifies entitlements with Apple and Google. Receives a transaction ID and anonymous user ID only.
Google Calendar (google.com)
Only if you connect it. Read-only access to event titles, start times, and attendees.
Railway (railway.app) and Sentry (sentry.io)
Application hosting and error monitoring. Sentry may receive anonymised error logs and device metadata.
6. Data Retention
Your conversation history is kept until you delete it or delete your account. Voice audio is never retained. Backups roll off within 30 days of deletion.
7. Deleting Your Data
Open Settings in the app and choose Delete everything. That is a hard delete, not a deactivation: your account, transcripts, summaries, action items, people, profile estimates, and calendar connection are erased, and any calendar access you granted is revoked. It cannot be undone.
Deleting your data does not cancel a paid subscription — Apple and Google own that billing relationship, so cancel in the App Store or Google Play as well.
Step-by-step instructions, including for accounts you can no longer reach, are on the data deletion page.
If you have uninstalled the app and can no longer reach Settings, email support@shunyatech.com.au and we will delete your data within 30 days.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or erase your data, and to object to its processing. Email us and we will action it. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Permissions the App Requests
Microphone (required)
ONO is a voice app with no text input. Without the microphone there is nothing it can do. It listens only while a session is open.
Calendar (optional)
Requested only when you choose to connect a calendar, and read-only.
10. Children's Privacy
ONO is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If a change is material we will update this page and the date above, and note it in the app.
